"pinay na ako" with a slang

Pinay na ako! For those who don’t understand tagalog I just said that I'm now a Filipino! er... person. The thought have never crossed my mind that this will ever happen. Just kidding. The BS Biology 3rd year students together with their adviser Mrs. Virgino prepared a little presentation for the Career Orientation of High School students nationwide that was held at the PICC. It’s like ICC in Brunei but with a P in front that stands for Philippines.

Anyways we were there to promote our school CEU as well as our school/college, School of Sci & Tech and our course, B.S. Biology. We’ve made Acopulco (a herbal plant that is abundant here in the Philippines and has anti-fungal properties) ointment from our lab and distribute it to people who visited to our booth. The place was jump pack with high school students and faculty teachers from different schools and colleges. So why am I only now a Filipino?

That’s because I’ve presented the preparation and presentation of our product, the Acopulco ointment, that was on powerpoint in TAGALOG! So it was my first time to present something or anything for that matter in tagalong to large crowd. It was nerve racking but at the same time fun. A lot of the high students notice and are amuse with my “slang”. It may not be perfect but hey it’s a start. =)

After that tiring presentation that we have to repeat over and over again after new batch of students keep arriving to our booth, we decided that we deserve ourselves a break. So we packed our things, headed out of PICC and in to MOA! Our adviser Mrs. Virgino was with us the whole day at MOA! We ate lunch at Chief Angelo, had our desserts at McDo, fries and ice cream and at TimeZone where we played car racing, basketball, those shooting games, DDR and the most fun of all, the music room! Where we sang with Mam Virigino, wala na ba pagibig?, through the fire, mirror mirror, weak, heal the world and torete

It was such a wonderful day because first of all we didn’t have classes the whole day! =p the adrenaline rush due to the thoughts of presenting the presentation in tagalog to A LOT of people and most importantly we get to bond especially with our adviser. It’s not everyday where you get to hang out, have fun, lay back and sing karaoke with one of your professors. =)
